It is all about having fun and hiding the word of God in your heart. These are a few suggestions to use in your school. Since it is linked up to the school on the web, every one can practice at home.
Ways to use My Memory Verse in schools.
- After a memory verse is presented and learned in a history or Bible class from the singing poster, the verse can be played for a two week period during morning announcements, preferably following the pledge of allegiance. Within two weeks the students should know it fairly well. Students will enjoy the recognition and leadership experience of leading the fellow students in this way. Representatives can be chosen to sing from fourth grade and up. One or two from every class to sing together.
- A large size banner in quality durable material is available for the classroom bulletin board, and is ideal for everyone to easily see and follow along as the singing small frame or CD is playing. These fine displays are available in a size of 5' x 3' , 5' x 4', 6' x 4' and come with or without hanging decorative rods and the top and bottom. We will make larger banners if you need one.
- At convocations, pep rallys, etc., a DVD can be shown to follow or a group can sing as leaders to lead the group. People like to sing if they know the words and the tune. A song leader can lead the girls in a verse then the boys, kids in the 9th grade, then kids in the 10th grade, etc.
- Instead of a spelling bee, have a memory verse bee. Since any age can do it, a representative from every class is chosen by elimination, then the process of asking for a verse and having each person sing it until someone makes a mistake, then if that person fails, another person can try it, until you have the winner. Awards are given. Also, at this time patriotic songs can be sung for points. (I am working on this one.)
- As a way of breaking the monotony extra points can be given to anyone who can say before the class the monthly verse, perfectly, and even more points if it is sung before the class without the help of the poster.
- Give out T-Shirts that say, for suggestion, “I've got Romans 6 down! - Just ask Me! Names of recognition on the wall at the principals office for everyone to see
- Learn the scripture on the go using your ipod or other mp3 device
- During chapel service everyone can sing a psalm from the DVD with a few leaders.
- If there is an ongoing bible class, on of the memory verse’s can be studied to give it extra meaning. When the songs were written, it was our intention to make the melody and the rhythm be just like we thought that it should be spoken.
